The Ghaziabad administration in Uttar Pradesh said markets in the district will open between 10 am and 5 pm on alternate days, starting May 23. An order was issued in this regard by District Magistrate Ajay Shankar Pandey.
In the order, the DM has stated that all markets will remain closed on Sunday. Shopkeepers and customers have also been asked to follow guidelines to minimise the risk of transmission of infection. These include the use of sanitizers, face masks and gloves apart from social distancing.
No more than five people will be allowed inside a shop at one time, says the Ghaziabad DM’s order.
Shop owners have also been instructed to clean their shops so that markets can reopen for business without any hiccups from Monday onwards. The municipality will disinfect these markets on Sunday.
Markets and shops in various areas in Ghaziabad have been divided into two groups. Those in the first group will open for business on Monday, Wednesday and Friday while those in the second group will be allowed to entertain customers on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Shops on one side will be counted in the first group while those on the other side of the road will be counted in the second group.
Ghaziabad Authority has also permitted drivers, maids, hawkers, electrician and plumbers to resume work by order of the District Magistrate.
Those travelling from Ghaziabad to Delhi will also require no passes.
